WHAT IS THE GENERIC NAME(S)

The generic name of Disprin is Aspirin. It comes in form of dispersible tablets.

The Active Ingredient in this medicine is Acetylsalicylic Acid or Aspirin ph Eur.

WHAT IS ITS COMPOSITION?

This medicine is a composition of Acetylsalicylic Acid – 3o0 mg

  • 50 mg of Calcium carbonate, Maize Starch, Citric Acid Anhydrous, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate, Saccharin, Crospovidone, and Lime flavour.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

There is an enzyme known as COX(cyclooxygenase) which is responsible for the production of Prostaglandins which cause swelling, inflammation, and pain in your body. It also clumps the platelets together and makes blood clots.

  • The presence of Acetylsalicylic Acid in this medicine blocks the action of COX and works as a painkiller by preventing the production of these chemicals.
  • This medicine contains 300 mg of Aspirin as an active ingredient to remit the fever.

  •  MINI STROKE

The recommended dose for mini-stroke is 75-160 mg once a day.

The recommended dose for heart attack is 150-450 mg as soon as there is a symptom of heart attack is seen.

The recommended dose for the prevention of a heart attack is 75-160 mg once daily.

  • PREVENTION OF COMPLICATIONS AFTER A HEART BYPASS SURGERY

The recommended dose for the prevention of the after complications of a heart bypass surgery is 75-160 mg once daily.

FOR CHILDREN

In children, Disprin is used for diseases like Rheumatic fever, Juvenile Chronic Arthritis, and Kawasaki disease. The dosage for each disease is also different.

  • RHEUMATIC FEVER & JUVENILE CHRONIC ARTHRITIS

The initial dose for these two diseases is 15-20 mg/kg every 6 hours. The maintenance dose of this medicine is 20 mg/kg every 4-6 hours.

  • KAWASAKI DISEASE

For Kawasaki disease, the initial dose is 10 mg/kg every 8 hours until the remission of the fever. The maintenance dose is 3-5 mg/kg once a day.

CAUTION FOR THE DOSAGE FOR BOTH THE ADULTS AND CHILDREN

It is a strict warning not to self-medicate this medicine without consulting or approval of a doctor. Don’t self-medicate with this medicine without consulting a doctor.

HOW TO TAKE THIS?

  • Take a glass of water and dissolve the tablet completely.

No, never take this medicine during breastfeeding. There are records of a significant amount of this medicine passing into the baby through breast milk.

  • It may produce Hypoprothrombinemia.
